Emma Watson just dropped the bomb on her official website that she’ll be taking a semester or two off from Brown University to work on her “professional and acting projects.” And we’re reading between the lines and assuming that by acting projects she means “playing Katniss in The Hunger Games.”

Fine, nothing is confirmed yet, but Emma is a front-runner for the role (Sorry, Hailee Steinfeld!) So it’s totally possible that her college hiatus is to do the movie!

I’m gonna be so annoyed if they get celebritys to play the parts. I think unknown people should play them because when it’s a book like The Hunger Games then you can’t make a girl who is poor be a famous celebrity, and I don’t think she wants to do it.
Everyone was saying the same thing when she was Rumored! to doing Perks. “She can’t she’s still in school. She’s still too busy doing Harry Potter…Blah Blah Blah. She can do what she wants. If she wants to do Hunger Games then she’s going to do it. I for one hope she is cast. Love the books best series since HP. I’m also a Twilight fan and I think Hunger Games is essentially better than Twilight as far as being very well written and such a political and well written story. In some ways I even put it above HP in the way the story is written and just the the emotion of the characters of the story. I think it would take someone with great emotional depth to do the main character justice and I believe Emma would be the best fit for this.

Well she is already confirmed to be filming Perks of Being a Wallflower this summer, so that might be it. Also she has a ton of press to do surrounding the Deathly Hallows Part 2 premiere such as movie premieres and endless interviews for different countries, so she really doesn’t have time for school. Also, I couldn’t see her jumping right into another series/franchise immediately after Harry Potter ended. She said she didn’t want to do that.
