Summer on Teen.com is about to get really juicy! Not like bloody juicy (gross!), but fans of The Vampire Diaries, we’ve got an awesome surprise for you. We were able to snag up VD star Sara Canning (aka Jenna) to blog about the show and the movies that inspire her. And get this, Sara will be with us ALL summer long, unlike her character! You’re welcome.
This week, I’m answering some of the awesome questions you’ve thrown my way. Thanks, all!
Other than blogging, what else do you plan to do this summer?
I haven’t solidified my summer plans yet. Summer tends to fly past me while I’m working, but once I wrap my current project, I am quite serious about making time for beach volleyball, spending time with my closest pals, and finding a wicked recipe for homemade ice cream. I’ll still be studious though – I’ve enrolled in a screenwriting class, and I take an acting class in Vancouver. I’m stoked to see Florence and the Machine in concert. And there are also work prospects on the horizon…
What cause is dear to your heart?
A current initiative that I’m proudly involved in is We Canada. This group of Canadians is aiming to raise awareness about Earth Summit 2012, a unique opportunity for world leaders to commit to sustainable action to protect the environment, promote social equity globally, and address countless issues that our planet is facing. We have a voice, and now is the time to raise it. Please join our movement at earthsummit.ca!
Will Black Field be made available outside of Canada any time soon?
Black Field — written, produced, and directed by the brilliant Danishka Esterhazy — is a film I’m honored to be a part of. I’m really ecstatic that people are asking how they can view this labor of love. It’s likely that copies of the film will be available sometime this summer. You can read about Black Field‘s screenings, press, awards, and distribution at blackfieldmovie.com.
Where do you see yourself in the next five to seven years?
I really love that I don’t know exactly where I’ll be or what I’ll be doing in five years. I of course hope to be telling stories that I really care about, because storytelling is my favorite thing to do. Along with acting, I am having a lot of fun developing my voice as a writer, and would love to direct. (My writing partner-in-crime has asked me to direct a fabulous short he wrote. I don’t think he realizes how much I appreciate his blind faith in me. He rocks.) I’ve also discussed opening a bakery with one of my favorite people. Or maybe I will be working as a dramaturge or historian by then. Or painting landscapes on the tundra. Always telling stories, though.
How do you feel about all the #vivalajenna love you’ve been getting on Twitter?
The #vivalajenna love is simply amazing. A thousand thanks.
