Even if the Golden Globes red carpet is a warmup for the Oscars, it’s still a major freakin’ Hollywood red carpet, people! So it’s no surprise that some of your favorite stars showed up with their A game to debut their first big look of Hollywood’s awards season. And yes, even amongst all the 2012 Golden Globe winners, there’s often a few fashion losers in the bunch. Check out who we were loving last night, tell us if you agree in the comments, and don’t forget to vote on the best styles of the night below!
Emma Stone was radiant in a gorgeous eggplant/slash/maroon/slash/red Lanvin gown with a plunging neckline. In our books, this one gets an Easy A.
Meanwhile, Charlize Theron’s pale pink, high-low Dior haute couture gown proved to be a total check me out moment.
Okay, so we can’t really decide on Lea Michele‘s covered-up-in-the-necessary-spots dress. The Marchesa gown is definitely gorg, but something about Lea wearing it just doesn’t seem right, right? Maybe because we’re so used to seeing her in a conservative argyle sweater.
Natalie Portman opted basically for the opposite of Lea’s dress with a pretty pink strapless gown. Cute, but uh, maybe just a little safe?
Whatever, she’s not nominated this year and she just had a baby so we get it.
The Descendants star and nominee Shailene Woodley (Like, how good was she in this movie???) literally shimmered in an ivory white art deco gown. This Marchesa dress definitely made a statement, and that statement was: Hey look, I’m not just that chick on ABC Family anymore. I’m the next chapter of Hollywood royalty!
The face of Dior, Mila Kunis, wore Dior — natch! And while her one-shoulder black number is definitely pretty, we’re not quite so sure it highlighted her gorgeous green eyes and complexion the same way last year‘s number did.
We’re pretty sure every lady at the Globes was red with envy of Dianna Agron‘s look. The multiple tiers and cut-outs made us want to cut out this picture and post it on our wall as the ultimate prom inspiration. Amirite or what?
So Zooey Deschanel‘s dress is very…Zooey. We’ll give her that. The beading must be amaze-ing in person, but photographs like it’s pixelated, no? Either way, we’re obsessed with Z’s beauty look for the night. The hair, the lips, the dramatic eye…she’s officially not a new girl in our style books anymore!
Yep, you didn’t think we’d finish off this list without a guy first, right? And while almost every dude from Mark Salling to Channing Tatum looked hot in their tux, it was Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s casual bottom unbutton and purple bowtie that made him the most dapper gent at the party. And yeah, that too-cute-for-words face helps too.
Naya Rivera: What can we say? Flawless from head to toe. Yeah, that should do it.
Probably one of our favorites of the night was Claire Danes‘ J.Mendel number. The high neckline in the front gave way to a gorgeous, glittery exposed back cutout, making this one both as simple as it was chic.
And, uh, yeah, how could we forget Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian?
They’ll show up for anything, even things they’re not invited to. But in all seriousness, we have to give props to both ladies for their arrival at the Weinstein Company (yeah, that same dude that owns Hollywood) Golden Globes after party. Linds for her pale pink gown with a bow — it looked perfect with her complexion and bleach blonde locks — and Kim for her shimmery lace old Hollywood gown.
But that’s just what we think of the Golden Globes red carpet. What do you think of the styles you’ve seen? Whose look was your fave? Who did we miss? Vote in the poll below, then hit the comments!
