10 Hunger Games Memes That Reflect Our Lives

by: on | in LOL | 24 Comments

Just because The Hunger Games is set in a post-apocalyptic world doesn’t mean you can’t relate to the trials and tribulations of Katniss, Peeta, and Gale. Maybe the terms tesserae, trackerjack, and mockingjay mean nothing to you in your everyday life (except as pertinent series vocab), but most of us can relate to some aspects of life in Panem–especially through the wonderful, equalizing world of internet memes!

Since we heart carbs big time, baking is serious business and legitimately worthy of its own Mulan-epic soundtrack. Would YOU want to be responsible for putting too much yeast in the batter and messing up what could have been a yummy bun? Yeah, didn’t think so.

Gale is stuck in the dreaded friend zone, a fate we wish was exclusive only to Suzanne Collins’s novels but, sadly, is something that we face every day. We feel you, Gale! We feel you!

Very Demotivational

Your BF or GF says they love you and it turns out…they don’t. Blasphemy! And totally awkward, IRL. (Thanks for reminding us, Scumbag Katniss.)

Because when you volunteer to speak first in class, it’s like making a sacrifice of your dignity.

True story. This is also another reason why we’re doing archery now (and not just to fangirl Katniss). Gotta prepare for the future, right? And look like a BAMF. If that’s not motivation, we don’t know what is.

Preach, Katniss! Preach! If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of a wax, you know there’s only one word that applies: ouch.

When we find out someone likes us–like, really likes us–we freak out too. It just doesn’t happen on national television. But we def still relate to Socially Awkward Penguin.

Tumblr

This is true on two levels. First, friends lie sometimes and that’s sad and we cry over the betrayal. But OMG we also react like mad Harry when stuff happens in books and we just have so many feelings about everything that’s happening. Then we have to remind ourselves we’re reading a book. And we still feel sad.

Tumblr

It’s really hard to tell someone you like them! We’re not spilling our feelings to our crushes, but we guess there’d be nothing to lose if we were battling to the death…

Memestache

For real, though. #firstworldproblems

Which of these makes you LOL the hardest? Do you relate to any of them?

I’ve heard from several plopee who weren’t happy with how the series ended. Personally I think the way that the series ended was the most realistic ending that there could have been for Katniss. I think it took a lot to write the realistic ending rather than trying to force the super happy ending’ that many plopee tend to use in fiction even though it is completely unrealistic based upon the entirety of the story.
