I’ll agree with the above points. I’ve read an interview or two with him in Rolling Stones but it’s that quote which makes me lack respect for him. I did before and even defended him but after that–no.
Kurt Cobain was so amazing. People say his music had no point but in all truth, it did. Rape Me was about how terrible the paparazzi was. Smells Like Teenage Spirit was a song he wrote about a turning point, a revolution. Something In The Way was about when he was kicked out and was living under a bridge. He went through hard times battling his addictions. He loved helping people, he loved seeing the smiles on everyone’s face but he himself was never truly happy which was why he killed himself. He felt things would be better without him. He had depths which people don’t give him credit for because they think he was just some druggie. Sure, he was an addict but that doesn’t mean that was all he ever was.
So to all you JB fans, you can love him all you want but remember that he’s way too cocky at times. He should have respect for the artists that came before him. When Justin Beiber starts letting out some personal depth, something meaningful that resonates with everyone, some sad emotion, rather than singing about his first love or if he was your boyfriend, he will still barely have the right to say that.
