If you’re anything like us, Memorial Day marks not only a day to honor our soldiers but a long weekend, the beginning of summer, good food and fun parties. So, for our Playlist of the Week, we’ve got a list of songs that celebrate America while still encouraging us to kick back and have a totally awesome weekend. From Taylor to Gaga, these songs will make your Memorial Day one for the history books.

1. Victoria Justice, “Make it in America”
How could we not include Vic’s new song about, well, America?! Blast this fun tune at your BBQ and picture yourself driving with the windows down starting your summer off right.

 

2. Katy Perry, “Firework”
The second highest amount of fireworks are fired off on Memorial Day (losing to the Fourth of July), so why not watch fireworks while also listening to KP’s inspiring track? Katy has a totally rad pool party in the video too, so if you’re in need of some ideas to make your party the best ever, we’ve got you covered.

 

3. Miley Cyrus, “Party in the USA”
We know, you’re probably sick of hearing about this Miley song, but let’s face it, we still can’t get it out of our heads. So, get up and move your hips like yeah embrace the amazingness that MiCy left us with.

 

4. Carrie Underwood, “All-American Girl”
Basically, Carrie is living our American dream in this adorable song. Who doesn’t want to marry the high school football star and live happily ever after? Sigh, one day Carrie, but until then we can just listen to your song and pretend.

 

5. Lady Gaga, “Edge of Glory”
Yes, Memorial Day is filled with sun, food and sun, we can’t forget what it’s really about — honoring our soldiers. So let’s give glory to our soldiers — while still having fun, obvi.

 

6. One Republic, “Good Life”
If you’re anything like us, you pretty much love life. Might as well celebrate the year and the start of summer with this feel-good hit.

 

7. Demi Lovato, “La La Land”
Don’t have time to barbecue for Memorial Day? No worries! Take a hint from Demi, throw on some converse and head to McDonald’s with your friends for a fun and delicious way to celebrate the holiday.

 

8. Taylor Swift, “American Girl”
It’s official, there really is a Taylor Swift song for everything. We love her cover of this Tom Petty classic so much that we had to include it in our Memorial Day playlist.

 

9. Glee Cast, “America”
If there’s one thing we love more than America, it’s the Glee cast singing about America. We can’t get over this awesome performance from West Side Story and think it’s a must for people of all ages.

 

10. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, “Summertime”
We’re taking it back old school with this Fresh Prince jam. The video, complete with hamburgers and hot dogs, sets the perfect mood for this year’s Memorial Day barbecue.
