After months and months of waiting, we finally got a first look at the upcoming Perks of Being a Wallflower movie, based off of the 1999 novel of the same name by Stephen Chbosky, in the just-released trailer.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is about Charlie (played by Percy Jackson’s Logan Lerman), a 14-year-old socially awkward boy who starts high school with no friends. He’s very introverted, but wants to step out of the shadows of his college football star brother (Make It or Break It’s Zane Holtz) and super popular sister (Nina Dobrev). Charlie soon meets Sam, a quirky but beautiful senior who he begins to crush on, played by Harry Potter alum Emma Watson, and her step brother Patrick, played by up-and-comer Ezra Miller. Sam and Patrick show Charlie new music, new friends and a new way of life.
The movie doesn’t have a release date yet – it’s set for this fall – but you can check out the trailer below.
Perks is Emma’s second movie since the Harry Potter series ended last year; she had a small role as Lucy in the Oscar-nominated My Week With Marilyn. After last night’s MTV Movie Awards, where she and the rest of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 gang won the award for Best Cast, she tweeted, “Thank you so much for all of the support tonight. I had an amazing time. I am so proud to have been a part of Potter and Perks.”
Last night, Logan, Emma and Ezra presented the award for Best Male Performance to Josh Hutcherson for his role as Peeta in The Hunger Games.
