The only thing more depressing than finishing the last page of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was watching the closing credits of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 movie because it meant there were no more Harry Potter projects to look forward to. Or so we thought. Then came the launch of Pottermore, the interactive site where Potter fans around the world could learn more about the Wizarding World, become Hogwarts students and interact with other “Potter Heads.” Now, the creators of Pottermore, Sony and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling herself have teamed up to bring us Wonderbook: Book of Spells. Book of Spells will be an interactive game for Playstation 3 controlled by Playstation Move Motion controller, AKA your magic wand.
In the interactive game book, players will be able to read about and cast spells like Wingardium Leviosa, and Incendio just as a Hogwarts student would, as well as read notes from previous Hogwarts students. Rowling has also included tips on how to become a great witch or wizard.
According to J.K., “Book of Spells on Wonderbook is the closest a Muggle can get to a spellbook. I’ve loved working with Sony’s creative team to bring my spells, and some of the history behind them, to life. This is an extraordinary device that offers a reading experience like no other.”
Book of Spells will be released in Europe in November and in the United States in December, just in time for the holidays.
