While little sis Miley Cyrus is currently celebrating her engagement to Hunger Games hottie Liam Hemsworth, unfortunately big bro Trace Cyrus doesn’t have quite the same happy news to share – he and Brenda Song have officially called off their engagement and are no longer dating. In a statement from the musician:
“Brenda and I have decided to go our separate ways.”
In addition, Trace caused many jaws to drop by announcing that the couple has actually been broken up for some time now. He shared:
“We split up a couple of months ago. We will continue to focus on our careers. I wish Brenda the best and much success in the future. I hope everyone can respect our privacy about this situation. Thanks so much.”
This news comes as quite the shock to many, especially because just over three months ago Trace was raving about his finance — er, ex-fiance — to ClevverTV.
“I feel that everything happens for a reason. I kind of feel like God took away Metro Station and the greatness there so I could settle down and have my love life…meet my fiance. I’ve had the worst relationships because with touring it’s impossible. Now, I have the most loyal fiance ever. She’s fantastic.”
Prior to getting together, Trace famously had a brief fling with Brenda’s Disney co-star and Miley’s BFF, Demi Lovato. Brenda and Trace were dating for over a year and a half before they got engaged last October. Shortly after the engagement announcement, the pair dealt with immediate pregnancy rumors (which Brenda confirms were never true). Aw man, we were really rooting for these two.
