Playlist of the Week: Pop Songs Featuring Rap Verses

by: on | in Music | 8 Comments

What would be one of the best perks of being a famous musician? Definitely getting some of your fellow famous musicians to appear on your songs, duh. Lately, it’s been a rare sight to see a song title without seeing “featuring _________” right next to it. In fact, one out of every three songs on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart features at least one guest artists (trust us, we counted). Crazy! So for this week’s Playlist of the Week, check out our favorite pop songs that have rap verses. Best. Collabs. Ever.

1. Payphone – Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa
Two things are absolutely undeniable about Maroon 5: First, that frontman Adam Levine is hot. This isn’t up for debate. Moving on. Second, that they write a darn catchy chorus! Wiz Khalifa adds sick rhymes to make an amazing song even better.

2. ET – Katy Perry featuring Kanye West
The album version of one of KP’s biggest hits was just Katy all by her lonesome, but the remixed video single included Yeezy, bringing the song to a whole new (and awesome) level of weirdness.

3. Beauty and the Beat – Justin Bieber featuring Nicki Minaj
The older Justin gets, the swaggier (more swag? more swaggerful?) he gets. This is one of our fave tracks off his brand new album, “Believe.”

4. All Night Long – Demi Lovato featuring Missy Elliott and Timbaland
Miss Lovato did a good job shedding that Disney pop rock image on her last album by landing the Queen of Rap herself, Missy Elliott, on one of her tracks. Well done, Demi.

5. Middle Finger – Cobra Starship featuring Mac Miller
Cobra Starship’s latest record Night Shades is packed with guest vocals from different artists (we’re still jamming to “You Make Me Feel…”), but their latest single with Mac Miller tops them all.

6. Love the Way You Lie (Part 2) – Rihanna featuring Eminem
Rih belted out the chorus of Part 1, which was Em’s track, but Part 2 is all hers. We don’t know which part we like better, and you can’t make us choose!

7. Just In Love – Joe Jonas featuring Lil Wayne
Just like ex-GF Demi, Joe showed the world that he’s grown up since the last time the world saw him on the Disney Channel. We doubt Lil Wayne is even allowed on the Disney Channel.

8. iYiYi – Cody Simpson featuring Flo Rida
Aw, look how little Cody is in this video! Not many artists can say they landed a famous rapper like Flo Rida on their first single ever!

9. What’s My Name – Rihanna featuring Drake
People wonder where the Rihanna/Drake (Drakanna? Rhake?) dating rumors started. Well, here you go.

10. How Do You Sleep – Jesse McCartney featuring Ludacris
So maybe Jesse isn’t as popular as he once was, but this song, especially Ludacris’ rap, still rocks.

Which pop/rap collab is your fave? Any goodies we missed?
