Willow Smith Announces the Truth About Her Tongue Ring

If you check your trending topics on Twitter right this second, chances are that Willow Smith is still one of the top mentions. Apparently, pink hair isn’t the only out-there style Willow’s been rocking lately… except, unlike her changed ‘do, this one’s causing a bit of an uproar.

Just this weekend, the “Whip My Hair” singer posted a picture of her and a friend with matching silver rings; her friend is depicted with the shiny bling in her chin, while Willow showed one inside her mouth on her tongue. Without an explanation declaring whether it was authentic or not, the controversy began. Here were some of the responses:

So is Willow’s new stud the real deal or not so much? According to Bobbie DeBarge, the other girl in the photo, the answer is… NO! Not too long after the debate began, she Instagrammed a similar photo along with this caption:

“#fake #dontjudge #justhavingfun”

Instagram

However, it wouldn’t have been such a shock to see the young star flaunting what seems to be inappropriate fashions for a tween. Last month, Willow’s dad Will Smith told Parade magazine, “When you have a little girl, it’s like, how can you teach her that you’re in control of her body? If I teach her that I’m in charge of whether or not she can touch her hair, she’s going to replace me with some other man when she goes out in the world… She has got to have command of her body… She is used to making those decisions herself. We try to keep giving them those decisions until they can hold the full weight of their lives.”

Would your parents ever give you permission to get a tongue piercing? Would it be such a big deal if Willow’s was real, or is it not such a big deal? And how young is too young to get one?

honestly to all yal that have negative things to say it really shouldnt matter your not her mom or dad. Nor r you famous or go through anything that she does. If she wanna have a fake piercing let her it aint guna kill her if she curious, and for yal that keep talking about that’s not how you grew up you and her are two different people of course you didnt grow up like her , you also dont have two hella famous ass parents i think Will and Jada are doing a good job at parenting at least they know she aint fina do nothing behind their back

honestly, for a regular child, i wouldn’t approve of a tongue ring, and yeah, i think shes really young, but shes in hollywood. I’d rather her get piercings and change her hair color than do drugs and drink. i mean, its her life let her live it. do i think she should stay as young as she can for however long she can? yes. but shes having fun, and im sure life in hollywood isnt always as fun as it sounds, and so shes probably just expressing herself. PLUS, its FAKE. so who cares? leave her alone, and leave will and jada alone. there are WAY worse parents out there, trust me. its not worth all the controversy.

She takes very provacative pictures when with other girls. (see instagram pic of her & several girls on couch). She lacks the look of of innocence. I say Will & Jada are headed for a whirlwind unless they approach parenting like they do marriage (Open marriage). She looks like a boy & the tongue piercing DOESN’T help the matter! I’m just saying….

For one thing Willow looks like shes been smoking a load of pot an she can barely see her eyes are so tight the Smiths just let her do whatever she wants an that is their parenting style. But come on everyone needs some limits famous or not. Jada needs to stop trying to be a teenager and be a grown woman and dress like a woman not a teenaager.

Totally inappropriate. I cannot see me allowing my daughter to get a tongue piercing at 11. My parents almost killed me when I got a second piercing in the ears behing their backs at 17. I regret doing it because we never had a discussion about it. At 11 who is in control of the girl? She needs to just act her age and not grow up so fast..

Why can’t she just have fun. She’s sending the wrong message? It’s FAKE and it’s up to parents of kids to raise them, not famous people. Don’t judge..

    Crystal's Ball says:

This is an outrage! Kids should be just that kids… Will and Jada both know that this is sending the wrong message to young kids everywhere! They have no parental control and I guess she’ll be confessing her love for the same sex! SMMFH

why are kids so quick to grow up these days? stay a kid. she’s 11, not 21. go play hide-n-seek, not pick out your next stupid fashion statement.

hey i don’t care what you all are saying its insane for a girl of 11 to get her tongue pierced. this is so crazy like she has no parental control?

    Sarah says:

Dying your hair and shaving your head are two completely different things from getting your tongue pierced. I don’t think it’s legal for someone to get a piercing at 11, so it’s not jada or wills choice, its the law. My parents allowed me to color and cut my hair however I wanted, because it wasn’t bothering anyone. It’s hair, it’ll grow back.

    keke^.^ says:

ok heres how i c it im 4 years older than her nd my parents still wont let me shave half of my hair off

then again u hv to remember her life style she can do tht because her parents are will smith and jada pickett smith and they got money lk tht

i just hope they know tht they created a monster by the time shes my age she gonna hv lk a thousand tattoos and piercing

I guess I can understand what Will is trying to say but still, has he not seen her daughter?! It’s really hard to remember that she’s only 11. I would definitely not allow my child to get a tongue piercing at 11 and neither would my parents allow me.

        Olivia says:

I don’t care if it’s fake or not.

At age eleven I was riding my bike with kids in the neighborhood & going 2 Justin Bieber concerts & playing Mario on my GameBoy, not getting piercings.

Like ! said, don’t care if it’s fake, but if ur 11, then there’s something wrong with ur parents. :/
