The biggest stars in hip-hop and R&B poured into the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles last night for the 2012 BET Awards, hosted by Samuel L. Jackson. The stars looked glamorous on the red carpet, but the real action took place inside the theater.
Both Chris Brown and Drake took home top honors in their genres, the Best Male Artist award (R&B for Chris and hip-hop for Drake), and while Chris was there to accept his award, Drake was notably absent. This was Brown’s first public appearance since his bar brawl with Drake last month. Nicki Minaj won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist for the third year in a row, and Beyonce beat out Rihanna for Best Female R&B Artist. The biggest awards of the night, Video of the Year, went to Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Otis”, beating out not only Usher and two Beyonce videos, but another video from the duo as well. Oh, and we should probably also mention that two other teen.com faves — Mindless Behavior and Diggy — took home awards as well. Congrats, guys!
