Filming for Catching Fire won’t start until late September, thus leaving fans of the epic franchise without anything to look forward to until late 2013. Well, that is, except for the release of the DVD — and it’s coming sooner than you think. While all anyone seems to be talking about is the sequel’s casting, the take-home edition of The Hunger Games has a scheduled release date, plus added special features.

In the new trailer, filled with never-before-seen outtakes in itself, Josh Hutcherson echos the opinions of a majority of THG audiences and says, ”[Jennifer Lawrence] is so powerful without even, like, trying. It’s like she’s effortlessly amazing. I think she’s absolutely perfect for Katniss.”

After Josh’s take on Jennifer’s integral part of the film’s success, the trailer continues with in-action/training shots, visual effects like going from green screen to the final product, commentary from the cast and more. Watch the full special features trailer below!

Since the flick already raked in well over $600 million due to its fierce characters, juicy love triangle plot, killer soundtrack and overall — for lack of a better word — amazingness, you can expect the DVD will blow your mind as well. Especially since it will include over three hours of extra footage and bonus material, equipped with an eight-part documentary entitled, “The World is Watching: Making of The Hunger Games.” And, if you’re intent on getting it on Blu-ray, there’s also an exclusive, “Preparing for the Games: A Director’s Process.”
