Well, third time’s — err, we mean day’s a charm. At least in the Catching Fire casting world, that is. Just yesterday, we told you that Bruno Gunn was cast as Brutus and the day before we brought you news about Meta Golding playing Enobaria. Lucky for you, Hunger Games fans, we have even more casting news, because it was just announced today that hunky actor Alan Ritchson will take on the role of Gloss in the upcoming film.
Gloss is a former Hunger Games victor from District 1 who, along with his district counterpart and sister, Cashmere (who has yet to be cast), was selected to participate in the 75th Hunger Games. While this casting news is exciting and all, there’s still no word on Finnick, ladies and gentlemen. We know. Ugh.
In case you don’t know who Alan Ritchson is — and trust us, you’re going to want to after seeing this hottie — he’s a former Abercrombie & Fitch model (we can totally see it), musician and actor. You’ve probably seen him playing Aquaman on the The CW’s old show, Smallville, or potentially as Tripp Wilson on 90210, even if it was just for one episode. So, the guy can sing, model, act and is incredibly good looking — hellllo quadruple threat!
This morning, Alan tweeted: “No words can express…To have the opportunity to portray Gloss in @TheHungerGames. To be a part of this great trilogy…just…so grateful.” Aw, a guy that’s not only good-looking, but appreciative, too? We love him already.

I’m really happy with the decision that the producers made. I’m sure he’ll make a great Gloss!
Personally I think that Prim’s name being drawn at the reaping was a plant bseuace of how smug Effie Trinket was when she called her name. But I don’t think the Capitol personally wanted Prim, I think they just wanted a 12-year-old girl, and that just happened to be Prim. Also, if the drawing was a plant (which I don’t think it is) then Effie would’ve known that Katniss would step up and take Prim’s place and when she does take her place, everyone (including Effie) was shocked, bseuace district 12 hadn’t had someone fill in for a tribute in years.
What does that have to do with her comment or the article?
I thought it was Glossimer
I was assuming it would be Finnick when I saw the picture. Wow, though he’ll make an amazing Gloss!
