As you all know, the countdown to the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards has officially begun, and that means that every day (besides voting) we anxiously await performance news to roll in. So, when we saw this morning’s about the infamous show, we were so ecstatic because…  P!nk will debut a brand-new song from her new album, The Truth About Love, live for the first time ever. The newest CoverGirl was just added to the list of performers including One Direction and Alicia Keys, with many more still to-be-announced.

In addition to the performance update, MTV (with a little help from Kim Kardashian and Kanye West) also revealed that Kevin Hart will take on the super-imporant role of VMA host, following in the footsteps of Russell Brand and Chelsea Handler.

But, back to the most important thing — the music! P!nk revealed her excitement about performing at the show. ”Being a part of the VMAs for me is extra special because my mom never let me used to watch MTV as a little girl. I would watch it anyway but she would also try and ground me but then I would just sneak out my window and go to someone’s house that had MTV so to be on MTV is quite ironic.”

Wow, if someone is that dedicated to watching MTV, performing at the VMAs only seems natural, right? To catch P!nk’s performance (and tons of others), be sure to tune into the 2012 Video Music Awards when they air live from Los Angeles at 8pm EST on MTV!
