The Catching Fire casting news just keeps rolling in, because as of this morning the roles of Chaff and Seeder have officially been filled. You heard us right, Hunger Games fans. Not only one but two new Catching Fire cast members have just been announced. Maria Howell will play Seeder, a former victor from District 11. Seeder is described in the book as having “olive skin and straight black hair streaked with silver. Only her golden brown eyes mark her as from another district. She must be around sixty, but she still looks strong, and there’s no sign she’s turned to liquor or morphling or any form of chemical escape over the years.” If you’re thinking that Maria looks quite familiar, it’s because you probably recognize the seasoned actress from her roles in The Blind Side and on The Vampire Diaries.
In addition to Seeder, her co-tribute also from District 11, Chaff, will be played by E. Roger Mitchell, an actor who has been on NCIS, One Tree Hill and in multiple theatre productions. Chaff is famously known for refusing to receive a prosthetic hand from the Capital doctors and is good friends with Haymitch.
So, although you may be pretty excited about the continous casting news, we find it obligatory to mention that the actor playing Finnick still hasn’t been confirmed. These minor characters are great and all, but c’mon, Lionsgate, we need to know! And with 15 main casting slots still open, we have a bad feeling that they’re going to drag out that vital piece of information until the last possible second. Ughhhh.

I know where he is, just down the street from our condo. When Mom comes to visit, I hope there is a sunny engouh day left for us to walk down for a bit of new and a hot drink (not to mention a cinnamon bun). – Margy
