Even with more than a couple big-name magazines already in the bag for the 2012 year — Rolling Stone, Forbes, Billboard, etc. — Justin Bieber is far from settling down anytime soon. Now, he graces the latest cover of music and entertainment magazine Vibe. But it’s not to talk about his seemingly never-ending run-ins with the law, fresh tattoos, new music or his equally well-known superstar girlfriend, Selena Gomez. Instead, he discusses a subject he’s come to know quite well within the last few years: fame.
Considering the fact that Forbes recently dubbed him the third most powerful celebrity (behind Jennifer Lopez and Oprah Winfrey), the term “fame” is something he should revel in. (After all, how many 18-year-olds can say they own a Fisker Karma and hang out with everyone from Usher to Taylor Swift?) However, as he mentions in his Vibe interview, his reaction to Forbes‘ ranking was a humble, “‘Oh, that’s cool.’ I wasn’t like, ‘Oh, that’s awesome!’ I could really care less.”
When approached by the publication as to his now A-list status, Justin says, “What does that really mean, ‘to be famous?’ In general, fame can tear you apart, so you can never really feel like you’re famous. When people start acting like they’re famous, that’s when they start losing it.” He continues, “I don’t like giving too much personal information about where I live and the cars I drive… There are a lot of people in this world that aren’t good people, and all they need to do is a little research and then they can. People hiding in garbage cans overnight to catch [pictures] of me; crazy things happen. You can’t give out too much personal information.”
