Congratulations are in order for some of our favorites music artists! The nominees for the 40th annual American Music Awards were released on Tuesday, and there is going to be some seriously stiff competition.
The biggest award of the night (Artist of the Year), boasts some talented musicians as Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Maroon 5, and Drake are all up for the honor. That’s definitely going to be a tough one to choose!
However, don’t think they forgot about our favorite British imports, as One Direction is among the nominees for New Artist of the Year. Other artists up for that particular award also include fun., rapper J. Cole, indie rocker Gotye, and “Call Me Maybe” pop star Carly Rae Jepsen. That’s not the only award 1D is up for! They’re also nominated for Favorite Band, Duo or Group – Pop/Rock and Favorite Album – Pop/Rock.

um, i think that One Direction deserves their nominations. they worked really hard last and this year! they’re making really good music. i like it! and yeah, they’re amazing! oh, and let we won’t forget that in the EMAs awards they won 3/3! :3
Ugh when will people get it through their heads, Taylor Swift isn’t country or country/pop (Coming from a massive country fan both new & old country music). She’s straight up pop, and I personally don’t like her voice.

This list bites. Seriously,again? The Black Keys and Linkin Park,again? What about The Pretty Reckless–one of the greatest alt bands of today? And No Doubt has zero nominations . . . while One Direction has . . . Oh,god. I give up on these award shows–except Teen Choice,because Ian Somerhalder attends.
