If you thought the 2012 American Music Awards lineup was star-studded enough — since Taylor Swift, P!nk, Nicki Minaj, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Pitbull and Linkin Park were already scheduled to perform — you haven’t seen anything yet. As confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, four more big-named acts are all set to hit the stage at the musical event. Ready or not, here comes Usher, No Doubt, Ke$ha and… Justin. Bieber.
With the phenomenon that is Bieber’s Believe album, the 18-year-old is nominated for a total of three awards (Favorite Male Artist — Pop/Rock, Favorite Album — Pop/Rock and the coveted Artist of the Year). Meanwhile, mentor Usher is up for the same amount (one for Favorite Male Artist — Soul/R&B; one for Favorite Album — Soul/R&B) and is even competing against his young protege for Favorite Male Artist — Pop/Rock. As for the other newly-mentioned AMA performers, neither Ke$ha nor No Doubt nabbed a nomination, but may both be among the rankings come 2013.
But before the real excitement commences, the AMAs will have a special kick-off online ceremony hosted by Lance Bass, 90210‘s Tristan Wilds, Sean Kingston, Kimberly Cole, It’s a Brad, Brad World‘s Brad Goreski, The Middle‘s Eden Sher and Andy Grammer.
The 40th Annual American Music Awards begins on Sunday, November 18 at 8pm ET/PT. Who deserves the title of Favorite Male Artist — Pop Rock, Justin or Usher? Which performance are you most excited to see? And who do you think deserves the title of Artist of the Year? Tell us your thoughts!
