We know for sure that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel (aka Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence) will be back for the Boy Meets World sequel show Girl Meets World (yay!), but what about their BFF Shawn Hunter? There has been much speculation as to which stars would be returning (fingers crossed for Mr. Feeny!), but Rider Strong, who played Shawn from 1993 to 2000, has finally broken his silence on whether not he’ll be part of the project.

In a rather lengthy statement on his website, Rider reveals that while it’s not a complete impossibility, he currently has “no official involvement” in the highly-anticipated¬†Disney Channel spin-off series. The main gist of the statement reads:

“Boy Meets World was a defining aspect of my life, and I cherish those seven years. It was never just a job — on a personal level, many of my best memories and friendships were formed because of it. So I am extremely happy for Ben and Danielle to be able to continue the story. At this point, I have no official involvement in Girl Meets World. There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years. But Girl Meets World will be, and I think it should be, it’s own show. It will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters.”

Rider ended the statement on a positive note, saying that he “can’t wait to see it evolve.” Neither can we!

What do you think about the whole BMW spin-off? Excited? Nervous? Sound off in the comments!

I’m nervous. Very nervous. I loved Boy Meets World and if Girl Meets World isn’t a HIT show, then my memory of how GREAT BMW was may be altered. :( So, I’m praying that it can really come off wonderfully as it’s own show and not be so alike that it is compared to Boy Meets World. I hope it succeeds!
