With the overwhelming popularity of the Snow White character over the past year – Kristen Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman, Lily Collins in Mirror Mirror, Ginnifer Goodwin on Once Upon a Time, Ariana Grande in A Snow White Christmas — it’s about time for a new princess to step into the spotlight. At least, that’s what Disney is banking on…
According to Variety, the yet-to-be-titled live-action version of the Cinderella story is currently looking for its leading lady. And Director Mark Romanek is said to be testing the above-pictured actresses. From left to right: Saoirse Ronan (The Host, The Lovely Bones), Gabriella Wilde (Carrie, The Three Musketeers) and Alicia Vikander (Anna Karenina).
While the three are being fit for the glass slipper, another role’s already in negotiations. In an exclusive on The Wrap, the legendary Cate Blanchett (pictured below) is said to be tapped to portray the evil stepmother in the pending film.
This isn’t the only Disney tale that’s coming to life in the near future. Elle Fanning and Angelina Jolie are taking on an untold part of Sleeping Beauty from the eyes of its villainess in Maleficent, which is scheduled to hit theaters March 14, 2014.

Sorry, but I don’t think she looks the part. Melanie is tan, dark brown hair, and tough looking. She relaly doesn’t look at all like either of those three. She was good in The Lovely Bones but I honestly don’t think they should cast her as Melanie.
No Cinderella movie will ever top Ever After.
If Saoirse Ronan decides to take the part, it’ll be the best Cinders film ever!
