After closing one chapter of his life — which many speculated to be his two-season stint as Jackson on Teen Wolf since early October – Colton Haynes announced that he’s opening another one: He’s joining the cast of The CW’s Arrow.
Though a rep from MTV claimed that there was “absolutely no truth that Colton is being pushed out or that he, or any cast member, is being replaced. We love Colton and look forward to his returning with the entire cast for Season 3 of Teen Wolf,” the 24-year-old’s multiple retweets of the new casting decision confirm otherwise.
TV Guide was the first to break the news, learning exclusively from Executive Producer Greg Berlanti that “[w]e were big fans of Colton from Teen Wolf and we are thrilled he’s joining Arrow” as Roy Harper (a.k.a. the Green Arrow’s sidekick Speedy a.k.a. Teen Titans member Arsenal a.k.a. the Justice League’s Red Arrow from DC Comics), a character who the network describes as ”a handsome, street-savvy, teenager from ‘the Glades,’ the harsh, poverty-stricken portion of Starling City.”
Wait. Is this the “great news” he was referring to? Over the past few weeks, buzz spread that the TW alum was being considered for another huge role: Four in the Divergent movie. All signs were pointing there; he followed the series author, Veronica Roth, around the time Shailene Woodley was in final negotiations to play its heroine, Tris. But is that off the table now that he’s set to star on a hit CW show? Guess you (and we) will have to stay tuned…

It’s easily an upgrade for Haynes’ career. Arrow is amazing, and each episode gives me and a few of my DISH coworkers something to talk about. I’ve always been a fan of DC, so it’s been awesome watching my child hood come to the small screen. I’m even saving this entire season to my DISH Hopper’s 2TB hard drive. I can finally save every show I watch, instead of having to pick and choose like I did with my old DVR. Cheers to the CW for landing more and more talent.
