Emma Stone is one of America’s sweethearts, but she isn’t afraid to give the paparazzi a piece of her mind. The 24-year-old actress graces the cover of Glamour UK‘s February issue and not only opens up about photogs following her every move, but how she got her start acting in the first place. The intensity of paparazzi has been a hot topic thanks to the death of a paparazzo while pursuing Justin Bieber‘s Ferrari on New Year’s Day, and though this interview was conducted before that incident, Emma told the mag how the constant pursuit has changed the way she goes about her daily life.
“It’s weird in Los Angeles…[they] hiding out everywhere. The hardest thing is that it makes me act like an a**hole because I now have this weird level of paranoia that I never had before. It feels like having a private investigator on you or something. You find yourself walking around holding your head up like you’re looking in the mirror – and your friends are wondering what’s wrong with you. Then I feel like a jerk because half the time there’s nobody there … still, I really don’t want to be caught with a burger all over my face.”
Emma and her boyfriend Andrew Garfield are quite the target for paparazzi, not only because of their cute demeanor, but the couple also recently adopted a pup named Ren together. Also, it’s thanks to Emma’s acting that she’s even followed by paparazzi in the first place, so the actress discussed how she got involved with it in the first place.
“My parents knew that there was something a little off about me. So it made sense when I asked, aged 11, if I could take acting classes. Apparently I said to my mum, ‘If I can’t act, I’ll die.’ And then she knew – she knew that only an actress would say something like that.”
