Ryan Lochte is going from Olympian swimmer to reality star. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the 28-year-old Olympian will have his own show on E! premiering in April. Titled, What Would Ryan Lochte Do, the show will focus on “inside the unpredictable and offbeat life of the 2012 London Olympic Games’ breakout star.” It will also chronicle his continuing workout regimen, as well as his search for the “right girl.”
Some reporters have already seen short clips from the series, and say that the swimmer — who had hearts racing this summer thanks to him winning Olympic gold — seems a bit “dense.” However, the network doesn’t think that will stop viewers, as E! President Suzanne Kolb told EW, “How many people fall in love with the smartest guy in the class? They fall for the fastest swimmer,” adding, “He is an incredibly endearing personality who is sexy, entertaining and fun.” There also promises to be what E! as coined as, “Lochteisms,” which include quirky quotes from the swimmer.
This won’t be Ryan’s first time on TV besides the Olympics games, last year the swimmer made a guest appearance on the award-winning NBC comedy, 30 Rock. Ryan played a dumbed down version of himself, and yes, appeared shirtless.
Ryan joins celebs such as the Kardashian family (Keeping Up With the Kardashians), as well as Kevin and Danielle Jonas, (Married to Jonas) who all have reality shows on the network. What Would Ryan Lochte Do currently has a six episode order.
