After the year One Direction had, it makes sense that they would want to give back. Taking some time off before beginning rehearsals for their Take Me Home tour, the boys headed to Africa where they took part in charity work with young children through Comic Relief: Red Nose Day, and shared this photo on their Facebook page. Along with the photo was a caption from Harry Styles that read, “Little preview of our incredible time in Accra, Ghana. Comic Relief: Red Nose Day we will always owe you for taking us. Thank you . Harry xx”

According to Comic Relief: Red Nose Day’s Facebook page, “On Red Nose Day, everyone gets to have a cracking time while raising cash to change lives across the UK and Africa.” Though the photo doesn’t tell much about exactly what they did while they were in Africa, 1D headquarters wrote on Facebook, “The boys are back in the UK today after an unforgettable trip to Ghana for Comic Relief: Red Nose Day. We can’t wait to show you what they’ve been up to. 1DHQ x.”

The boys also tweeted about the life-changing experience, as on January 13 Harry said, “Today was the most amazing day I’ve had so far.. In my life ever.” Niall Horan also sent out a series of tweets that read, “Just arrived back from Accra,Ghana! Best life experience ever! This @rednoseday please get involved! I’ve seen the slums right in front of me! This is no joke! They really need your help! Poverty is real ! Massive thanks to @rednoseday for taking us to Ghana! It was incredible! real eye opener! We take so much for granted over here !”
