The characters on The Vampire Diaries never seem to stay dead and buried. On last week’s show, Klaus’ sister, Rebekah, who was staked in her prior visit to Mystic Falls, returned from her coffin (thanks to April) to wreak havoc on her hometown once again. And it looks like another one of her siblings is scheduled to do the same this season. No, we’re not talking about Klaus or even Kol, who played part in Rebekah’s vengeance. Instead, we’re here to discuss Elijah, the last piece of the Original family besides dear ol’ Mom and Dad.

According to Deadline, the other Mikaelson, played by Daniel Gillies, is tapped to play a lead in the TVD spin-off, The Originals, which is scheduled for introduction via the current CW series during its April 25th episode.

This news comes shortly after the announcement that Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) would also be staking (hehe) a claim in the upcoming drama, along with someone who VampireDiaries.com refers to as a “new fun-loving fanger character with a fancy schmancy name,” Marcel, and Camille, “a Tulane psychology student who will take an interest in Klaus because she’s intrigued by the darker aspects of the French Quarter.” So far, neither character’s been introduced on The Vampire Diaries nor have the roles been cast just yet.

Which other characters (dead or alive) would you want to see on the spin-off? What do you think of the concept? Leave your thoughts below or on our Vampire Diaries message board!

Why do the Originals that are going to be in the show need to be killed off? Don’t get me wrong, I was happy to see Kol go and will even be very glad to see Klaus leave if they choose to do it that way. But can’t they do like so many other spinoff shows and make crossover episodes between the two?
