Miranda Cosgrove has officially moved on from iCarly. The former Nickelodeon star has lined up her first post-iCarly gig, as she Deadline reports she was just cast in an upcoming NBC pilot. Miranda will join actress Christina Ricci in the sitcom Girlfriend in a Coma.
The show will center on a woman named Karen (Christina) who comes out of a years-long coma to find she has a 17-year-old daughter named Evie (Miranda). Miranda’s character is described as a “small-town, overachieving loner whose world is turned up upside down when her mom wakes up, and every hope she ever had of keeping her nose to the grindstone, saving money, and getting grades for an out-of-state college is thrown out the window.”
This isn’t the only upcoming project Miranda has. In addition to this pilot, Miranda lent her voice to the animated sequel Despicable Me 2, which hits theaters on July 3. Also, as far as we know, Miranda will continue to attend the University of Southern California, where she is currently in her freshman year.
Miranda’s former cast mates shared their excitment on Twitter, as Jennette McCurdy tweeted, “Congrats to @MirandaCosgrove on being cast in NBC’s new comedy pilot, “Girlfriend in a Coma”… Ahhh! #ProudCosgrover #CongratsMiranda ”
Jennette also has work lined up, as she’ll be starring in the Nickelodeon pilot Sam & Cat along with Ariana Grande as they each reprise their roles from iCarly and Victorious, respectively.
