“Dear John.” “Forever and Always.” “I Knew You Were Trouble.” They’re not just names of Taylor Swift songs; they’re not-so-subtle digs at a few of her ex-boyfriends. And there’s more where those came from.
But, while the country singer openly admits that her music and lyrics come from her real-life trials and tribulations (mainly dating dilemmas), she’s not one of those who can dish it out but not be able to take a hit in return.
In the April 2013 issue of InStyle UK, the cover star reveals, “If I’m gonna write songs about my exes, they can write songs about me. That’s how it works. I’m not gonna complain about it. I’m not gonna sit there and say, ‘I’m the only one who can write songs about this relationship.’ It’s fair game.” You hear that, John Mayer, Joe Jonas, Harry Styles, etc.? According to Taylor, all’s fair in love and war, so get composing!
