In an interview with ShortList magazine, singer/songwriter Jake Bugg had some not-so-friendly comments to say about 1D, stating: “Oh, I’m pretty sure they have a good laugh. But it’s easy to, isn’t it? When you don’t have to write any songs. People [call them the new Beatles] because they broke America, but that don’t mean a thing. I mean, [One Direction] must know that they’re terrible. They must know… Calling them the new rock stars is a ridiculous statement. And people should stop making it.” Ouch.
Not ones to take criticism lying down (hello, the One Direction war with The Wanted is still raging), some of the boys have already fired back at the lesser-known English musician, tweeting:

This isn’t the only music-fueled feud we’ve heard of in recent weeks. After the 2013 Grammy Awards, the drummer from The Black Keys, Patrick Carney, took a jab at Justin Bieber, saying the 18-year-old superstar shouldn’t feel snubbed for his lack of nominations: “[Justin's] rich, right? [...] Grammys are for, like, music; not for money… and he’s making a lot of money. He should be happy.” Just like 1D, Justin took to Twitter to give it right back to the artist:

I agree with that Jake Bugg guy. One Direction are not even close to be like the Beatles , One Direction should not even be compared to them. One Direction does not even write songs, however if they do, then their writing sucks. All of their songs sound the same or are written about the same things, girls and love , There are tons of other bands that are way better because they write songs about, love, fans, struggles with drugs and alcohol, being bullied, how to accept yourself and it all led into people who stayed alive and stopped self harming. that proves that One Direction is not a great band, well in my opion.
