But let’s start at the beginning. First, Liam Payne got into a feud with Boy George after Liam allegedly snubbed BG’s niece at the BRITs. Following the incident, the ’80s popstar referred to the 1D guy as a “disrespectful w**ker of a minder” on Twitter. Soon after, another musician made a remark about the band: Jake Bugg. In a recent magazine interview, the lesser-known singer/songwriter said, “One Direction must know that they’re terrible,” to which Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan fired back.
As for Harry himself, a new biography is suggesting that his relationship with Taylor Swift was completely a hoax, created for publicity purposes. A few days later — phew, this is a lot to discuss — Harry was nailed in the crotch by a flying shoe during a Take Me Home world tour concert.
Now, after all of that, One Direction was voted ‘Worst Band’ at the 2013 NME Awards, and Harry Styles was crowned ‘Villain of the Year.’ At least the curly-haired singer took it in stride:

Their the worst band? The last time I checked they were the biggest boy band in the world. People may argue that The Wanted may be but do you ever see their name anywhere? Like for One Direction you see their name everywhere, on magazines, cards, and in many stores. And for whoever votes them that obviously must be jealous of their fame.
Okay first of all, WTF? Worst boy band? Alright, who’s stupid idea was it to make these rude and down right nasty categories? Villain of the Year? That is downright dumb. Yes because the Harry is a villain. What has he done? Him and his mates are helping vulnerable children! Yeah, because that is sooo evil. Oh yeah and Liam, being rude, to a LITTLE girl! I don’t know Liam personally, but as directioners we all know he is as sweet as a puppy.This right here is humanity at its worst. I’m not saying Directioners are perfect either, because we are mean. Not all of us. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions, but your opinion is downright stupid if you don’t have the facts. They are human. They have feelings like you and me. They aren’t robots. They aren’t gods. They are human. Why cant people get that through their thick skulls? Why do you have to go so low as to hurt people? People you don’t even know! They deserve to be famous after all the hard work they have done! I hate how people who have only heard of One Direction once and automatically hate on them. Honestly if you are able to see what they have done for others and who they really are, you’d understand what I’m talking about. This is sick and I am disappointed that people are so low as to do this in their free time.

I’m not a Directioner, I’m a Rusher. But I respect One Direction also. We may have our own opinions but my opinion is that they aren’t the worst band. I may not listen to or like them but that doesn’t mean that I think they are the worst. I felt bad for Harry and the shoe thing though. But at least the girl apologized about it. Yes, they do also visit hospitals just like other bands/singers/groups. They may act “cocky” but it doesn’t mean they really are. I’d never give One Direction hate even though I’m a Rusher. Ok, I’m done now.
people that don’t know one direction might think it’s true, but us directioners, still support them no matter what haters say. Maybe others say that about them because they just want more fame than the boys, but they don’t need to be that rude about it, don’t you think? This is just my opinion on this topic. Everyone deserves to be treated right, famous or not.
That’s not right. One Direction is an amazing band with real people in it. They don’t act fake or innocent like all those other teen sensations. They actually work hard and people who don’t see that should just not say anything at all. Just because they’re famous and successful doesn’t mean others have to be bitter and say spiteful things about them. Saying mean things about other people doesn’t make your own life any better.

You are so right! They are real people, and they work damn hard for their fame, and fortune. Charlotte you are right people are entitled to their own opinion but there is no reason people should be dissing them.
It’s just sad that they’re getting so much hate only because so many people love them. Seriously, this is humanity at its lowest. They’ve visited hospitals and young children in Africa, donated thousands to charity and been so sweet and loving to their fans and this is what they get? Disgusting.

I think that’s really harsh and that you should think before you type. Honestly, that’s bullying right there even if they are ‘famous.’ And before you ask, no i’m not a directioner or a big fan of them. But they are people and that was just plain mean.
What the freak did they do to you? Just because they’re famous doesn’t mean you have the right to bash on others far more successful than you. Plus the fact that they can’t defend themselves against a bunch of nobodies that have nothing better to do besides hating people who don’t even have an impact in your life.
