Jeez, One Direction just can’t catch a break lately, can they? The popular boy band has been getting dissed left and right in the last few weeks, and the most recent person to express their 1D distaste is former Lost star Matthew Fox. During an appearance on Conan, the actor the topic of 1D came up, and Matthew doesn’t seem to be their biggest fan.
Matthew told the show’s host how he has been getting into arguments with his 15-year-old daughter about the British boy band sensation. He said, “She’s a huge One Direction fan. She’s got this major crush on Harry Styles.” Adding, “And I’m a huge music fan and we’re having that classic father-child argument about music right now. So I’m trying to encourage her to explore music that’s outside of the boy bands.”
He continued, “I upset her every time we talk about One Direction, so we’ve pretty much had to agree to not talk about One Direction at all. Every time she brought up One Direction, I felt it was my responsibility to bust their chops, and she would get very upset.” Conan then asked whether or not he’d be joining her at a 1D concert any time soon, to which Matthew replied, “No way!”
While Matthew obviously isn’t a fan of the guys, this is practically a rave review compared to some of the other comments made about 1D lately. First, singer/songwriter Jake Bugg referred to the boy band as “terrible.” Then, at last week’s NME Awards, they earned the titled of ‘Worst Band’ while Harry was crowned ‘Villain of the Year.’ Way harsh, guys!

Ok, if you like 1D that’s fine, If you don’t that’s fine as well. I am a one direction fan, but I can’t choose or make other people listen to them. If someone hates them, so be it, it’s their choice. One direction can actually sing but to some people, they just don’t like there singing, so be it.

Hmm…looks like their fame is going on a downward spiral. I disagree that they can’t sing and are “terrible” though. I think Harry could be good and have you heard Liam sing by himself? He did a cover of Michael Buble’s Haven’t Met You Yet and even though I’m not a 1D fan at all, I’ll admit it was really good. I think a couple of them are talented.
If you don’t like One Direction. That’s okay. If your daughter likes One Direction. That’s fine. She’s allowed to have her own taste in music. She’s allowed to have favorite singers. You can’t force her to listen to other music if she doesn’t want to. At least she’s not like other kids who do drugs, alchohol and have sex early. You should keep your opinions to yourself.

It’s a boyband what do you expect. The only difference is One Direction can’t actually sing. They sing at the same time and sound like their singing party songs. One by one they have no talent. Either way it’s a great way to gain popularity. This is what rappers used to do, the only difference is that no one is shooting guns here but shooting tweets and stories. 1D is already fading out anyway. More celebs will start following the trend on hating them to get heard.
Um. Yes they can actually sing. And a lot of boybands sing at the same time, what the matter with that. Also, yes, SOME of their songs are party song. You obviously have not listened to them so keep your mouth shut. One by one they DO have talent, that’s why Simon put them in a group. To make a GREAT new boyband. It diffidently work. Their success is better than a LOT of boybands before them. They are not already fading out. They are on a WORLD TOUR right now playing 161 gigs. The only reason people hate them is because they wish they could have the success these boys have.
Oh for God’s sake, Simon Cowell put them together because he KNEW that they would attract deluded teenage girls. He knew they had no talent, but he knew that they would make MONEY, and that’s what matters in this corrupted music industry. And please, everyone, stop with this stupid “hater” thing. We’re not haters, we’re people with sense, so stop being so damn overprotective.

Please, enough with the “hater” thing already. Calm down. Calling someone stupid when you barely even know them simply isn’t justifiable (especially if that person’s telling the truth, which poor Skylar was), so please, be normal and humane.
