5 Things We Actually Appreciated on Last Night’s ‘Glee’

Is the old Glee back? Don’t wanna jinx it or anything, but unlike the most recent episodes of the FOX show where we were left saying “Yeah, right” and “WTF?” we actually were all for the “Girls (and Boys) on Film” show (after the boring black-and-white part in the beginning). Here were the moments we appreciated most:

1. Blaine sings, like, everything! The key to winning us over: Darren Criss — all day, every day. Like, “Shout” — a.k.a. Glee‘s 500th performance! (Download it and the proceeds will benefit Give A Note Foundation) — was amaze, and we’re pretty sure we even shed a tear during his duet with Kurt to Moulin Rouge‘s “Come What May” (even though it was all in their heads).

2. Focus on the believable storylines. Thank you, thank you, thank you for NOT portraying Tina as a psycho stalker in love with Blaine — that was the weirdest thing ever — and focusing on the plots that make sense, like Will and Emma’s relationship blunder. Since Emma ran out on their wedding, the two haven’t even spoken. But just when Will thinks everything’s gonna be alright, Finn admits that he kissed Emma while Will was away (okay, which wasn’t exactly a believable moment). Now the plot thickens… and we love it!

3. Santana! Now that she lives with Kurt and Rachel in NYC, we get to hear her one-liners and tells-it-like-it-is attitude all the time. Smart move, Ryan Murphy.

4. The mash-ups. The New Directions guys took on two tracks from two separate Tom Cruise films, Top Gun and Risky Business, and the girls took on “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” and “Material Girl.” Though the overall winner of the competition was a cop-out tie, we still thought the combos were kinda awesome.

5. A love triangle we care about. The whole Jake-Marley-Ryder thing wasn’t working for us… until about ten minutes before the episode ends where the three act out the infamous pottery wheel scene from Ghost. We died. And we feel bad for both guys now. Get yourself together, Marley!
