According to Entertainment Weekly, the coveted part’s been snatched up by Theo James, an actor known for his one-time stint on Downton Abbey and as the lead on CBS’ Golden Boy. The 28-year-old says of the news, “As a fan of Divergent, I am thrilled to have been chosen for the role of Four and to be a part of such a phenomenal story. As an actor, I am excited to explore and play this incredibly complex and mysterious character. Director Neil Berger is a remarkably visionary filmmaker. Along with the incredibly talented Shailene Woodley, we are looking forward to the fantastic adventure of bringing this beloved book to life on the big screen for all the fans.”
The co-chairmen of Lionsgate add, “Theo is not only an incredibly talented actor, he is also who we envisioned as Four when reading Veronica [Roth]’s novel which has taken the world by storm. As we continue to develop the film, the studio remains committed to providing fans with a movie adaptation that stays as true to the book as possible and we are confident that we have done so with our selection of Shailene and Theo in the leading roles.”

I didn’t think of theo james at first when I was looking at good people for tobias. He does seem a little old, but that’s fine with me. I think he’ll do a great job and well see what happens. I don’t think people should judge him before they even see a trailer for the divergent movie. He might not look exactly as a lot of people imagined tobias to be, but people kept saying that about Jennifer Lawrence as well and now everyone loves her!!!

That awkward moment when your more excited to watch ,Eric, a character you hate than your fictional crush because they cast someone who looks nothing like him. It sucks!

And hes got that perfect spare upper lip. I suggest you watch him in Underworld the latest one to see him kick some butt and maybe yall gonna change what you thought about him even juat a little bit
and just imagine him playing Tobias after watching him in Underworld. He may be old but thats hollywood they cast 21 yr olds to play 16 yr olds its not that much of a shock that they cast a 28 yr old to play a character 10 yrs younger than him
He isn’t really what i pictured, as i pictured someone like Max Irons as Four…but, I am very sure they have worked really hard on casting Four because it has taken a while, lets see how it goes.

Honestly, I like who they cast. They must have spent a very long time auditioning and deciding who would play this important role. Theo looks like a good actor, and even Veronica Roth said she really likes him. I can’t wait to see how he takes on this role.
