Woohoo, Jessica Sanchez is coming to Glee… Okay, that news was actually confirmed months ago — in October, to be exact — but since then, there’s barely been a peep from the American Idol alum’s camp, or the FOX dramedy’s. That is, until this week.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the singer dishes on the details of her character, “I’m playing a student from a rival school who is supposed to be a legendary diva — a powerhouse singer.” Not much acting there, considering we’ve all heard her pipes.

So far, she’s scheduled to film two episodes — including the finale! — starting this coming April: “It’s going to be a very busy month for me. I’m very excited because I’ve never acted before. I really want to meet [Naya Rivera]. She’s got that attitude and I love it.”

As of now, no further information’s been given. But at least all dedicated fans of the AI contestant, who took second place in the competition during Season 11 against Phillip Phillips, can look forward to her debut album, Me, You and the Music, on April 30, 2013. Jessica says, “Right after Idol, I was, like, ‘I’ve got to become a totally different person. I can’t just stand there and be shy and just sing.’”

What are your thoughts on Jessica’s stint? Who else would you like to see as a guest-star? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below, or on our Glee message board!
