Look — it’s Taylor Swift making headlines for something other than her dating life. It’s just been announced that the 23-year-old singer’s tapped to guest star on the season finale of FOX’s New Girl alongside Zooey Deschanel.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Taylor will be featured on the May 14 episode as a character named Elaine who’s an “important guest” at CeCe (Hannah Simone) and fiance Shivrang’s wedding. So far, no more details have been given, but considering how often the show’s referenced Miss Swift this season (i.e. Jess (Zooey) moans, “I just wanted to listen to Taylor Swift alone,” when she was in a sour mood), it was only a matter of time before she made an appearance.

Although she’s currently on her Red tour with Ed Sheeran, Taylor will be on the set of the FOX comedy next week to shoot her stint. Hmm… wonder if this opportunity was discussed when Taylor and Zooey first met at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards (re: picture above) last May.

In 2009, T.Swift made her television debut on an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, followed by her first-ever movie role in 2010′s Valentine’s Day as Taylor Lautner‘s on-screen girlfriend. Since then, the country girl’s lent her voice to The Lorax, and reportedly auditioned for the role of Eponine in Les Miserables, but that ultimately went to Samantha Barks. So, this will mark Tay’s big return to acting. What do you think of the news? Tell us in the comments, or on our Taylor Swift message board!
