While some have speculated that Selena Gomez‘s super catchy new song “Come and Get It” is about her ex Justin Bieber, the 20-year-old singer claims that just isn’t the case. Selena stopped by Ryan Seacrest‘s morning show on KIIS FM Monday morning, and opened up about the new song saying, “Honestly, to be 100 percent real, it’s not really about a specific person.”
With lyrics such as “I love you too much, much to hide you, this love ain’t finished yet,” and “This love will be the death of me, but I know I’ll die happily,” she could have fooled us! Though Selena claims she hasn’t given her number out to any new guys since breaking things off with Bieber back in January — who she dated on and off for about two years — she did the suggestive lyrics of the song give off a certain “confidence.”
Selena told Ryan “The reason why I wanted this to be the first single was because it exudes, like I said earlier, confidence and strength and that is something I’m willing to share with the world,” adding “That’s the place I want to be in and I want to represent something good and be a good example, so I think it’s fun.”
