The big-screen adaptation of The Maze Runner has found its leading lady: Kaya Scodelario. In a not-so-subtle tweet, Director Wes Ball announces, “Aml Ameen and Kaya Scodelario were mesmerizing on camera today. Oops. Did I just reveal @kScodders is our Teresa? :)”
For those not familiar with the story just yet, Teresa (Kaya) is the only female Glader in James Dashner’s YA book. Like many of the latest films, it’s set in a post-apocalyptic world and focuses on Thomas, “who, after having his memory wiped, is deposited in a community of boys trapped in an enormous maze. He soon learns they are part of a mysterious test, and finds it is his destiny to join the ‘maze runners’ and lead them to freedom.”
Teresa’s usually described as “beautiful, and thin with tar black, shiny, long hair. Her skin is described as flawless and as pale as pearls. She also has “burning,” blue eyes. She is approximately 5’6″.”
Kaya will be joining The Chronicles of Narnia‘s Will Poulter (Gally) and Love, Actually‘s Thomas Brody-Sangster (Newt) for the flick. And if you’re wondering why the actress looks so familiar, she played Nicholas Hoult‘s younger sister on the UK version of Skins.
Maze Runner is scheduled to hit the big screen on February 14, 2014. Is it on your must-see list? Who do you picture playing the rest of the characters? What’s the next book you want to see become a big-screen adaptation? Spill in the comments below!
