Raise your glasses, fans of The Maze Runner — the last of the book-turned-movie’s main characters has been chosen. Over the weekend, Director Wes Ball announced, “Everyone welcome our Chuck to our Maze Runner cast. Blake Cooper.”

Chuck is the youngest of the Gladers in James Dashner’s YA book. Although he’s only 12 or 13 years old, he quickly befriends newbie (and lead protagonist) Thomas, who’s 16 or 17, after his arrival in the Glade. The story’s set in a post-apocalyptic world, where Thomas, who wakes up with his memory wiped, is trapped in a community of boys within an enormous maze. Soon, Thomas learns that they’re all a part of a mysterious test, and finds it his destiny to join the ‘maze runners’ and lead them to freedom.

In the novel, Chuck’s described as “pudgy, with long brown hair and blue eyes.” Although it’s a miss on the ‘blue eyes,’ Blake seemingly fits the rest of his character’s description.

Joining Blake for the ride are Teen Wolf‘s Dylan O’Brien (Thomas), SkinsKaya Scodelario (Teresa), Love, Actually‘s Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Newt) and The Chronicles of Narnia‘s Will Poulter (Gally).

The Maze Runner is scheduled to hit the big screen on February 14, 2014. Is it on your must-see list? What do you think of Blake’s casting? And what’s the next book you want to see become a big-screen adaptation? Spill in the comments below!
