Never underestimate the power of the Shadowhunters. Weeks after author Cassandra Clare talked about the possibility of the sequel to The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, titled City of Ashes, becoming a big-screen movie, we have confirmation.
Producer Martin Moszkowicz made the official announcement on his Facebook page: “The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes set up for worldwide distribution in 2014. Bye, bye Cannes…”
On- and off-screen loves Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower are already set to return as leads Clary and Jace, respectively, as well as Director Harald Zwart.
Cassie Clare’s books are on a serious roll, as the prequel series, The Infernal Devices, is also receiving the film treatment. As we speak, the first in the trilogy, titled Clockwork Angel, is being worked into a screenplay.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is now set to hit theaters Wednesday, August 21, two days before its original release date. That means the countdown just got shorter! Anyone else totally freaking out over the latest news? Spill in the comments below.
