In a bidding war, The Wrap reports that Universal Pictures landed the film rights to the author’s Panic — and the book hasn’t even been released yet! Lauren says of the deal, “I’m thrilled about Universal’s enthusiasm and passion for the project, and excited about the chance to bring this story to the big screen.”
To give you the most brief of synopses, Panic focuses on a group of teens who “play a very dangerous game.” And… yeah, that’s really all there is to say for now as Producer Marc Platt and the rest of Universal are planning on keeping plot details under wraps.
Back in 2010, the writer’s Before I Fall was optioned by Fox 2000, but never made its way into production. More recently, Lauren’s popular series, the Delirium trilogy, was translated into a TV pilot starring Emma Roberts, Daren Kagasoff and Gregg Sulkin, but was soon rejected by the FOX network.
Keep a lookout for Panic on store shelves come spring 2014. Based on what you know so far, does it sound like something you’d add to your must-read list? And what do you think of the movie deal? Tell us all your thoughts in the comments below!
