On Saturday, June 22, Demi’s older sister, Dallas Lovato, broke the news that their biological father, Patrick, passed away. She wrote, “Rest in peace daddy I love you..”
As expressed in numerous interviews, the 20-year-old singer’s been estranged from her dad since 2007, prior to her skyrocket to stardom with Camp Rock and Sonny with a Chance. Nevertheless, Demi took to her own Twitter account to make the following statement:
I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers.. God bless you all, thank you so much ❤

So far, no further details as to Mr. Lovato’s death have been released, but it’s reported that he had been battling cancer in recent years.
The past few days have been filled with loving messages from celebrities:
@ddlovato WE CAN'T STOP THE WORLD, but we can find friends we DON'T FORGET. So blessed our TWO DIFFERENT WORLDS collided. Stay strong.
