It’s arguably the better summer anthem (at least, according to Teen readers), but does “Party in the U.S.A.” have what it takes to be the song of the nation? Miley Cyrus‘ fans apparently think so…

In a request on We the People, which “provides a new way to petition the Obama Administration to take action on a range of important issues facing our country,” under the categories Arts and Humanities, Firearms and Human Rights, the 20-year-old’s Smilers urge President Obama to change the United States National Anthem from “The Star-Spangled Banner” to the former Hannah Montana star’s 2009 hit single because, according to them, “It is what is best for this country.”

According to the site, “If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure it’s sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.” Enough support meaning 100,000 signatures. So far, the aforementioned has garnered around 300, so Miley’s fans have their work cut out for them if they want to make the August 1 deadline.

What do you think of the request? Listen to “Party in the U.S.A. once more below, then tell us your thoughts in the comments, or on our Miley Cyrus message board!

Miley Cyrus thanks the haters for watching her “We Can’t Stop” music video!

No! this is the worst idea ever! are country is messed up if they even consider this! and that song is not even patriotic! all it is is a person coming to america and partying, nothing to do with freedom or anything else that this country stands for. our for fathers would not only turn over in their graves but come back to haunt us until we change it back! so all in all NO! WORST IDEA EVER!

So hard with my girls not around me
It’s definitely not a Nashville party
‘Cause all I see are stilettos, I guess I never got the memo”

    God bless America….

  • Kelly

This is probably one of the worst ideas I’ve heard this week. Who the hell thought this would be a good idea? It’s not even a good song.
