We’re pretty sure no one was opposed to Kate Winslet playing Jeanine Matthews in the big screen adaptation of Divergent, but if there was, this photo should silence those naysayers! In a photo debuted by USA Today, we’re not only getting our first look at Kate slipping into the villain role, but they chatted with her about it as well.

Kate — who is currently pregnant with her third child — mentioned that she’s been doing “fine” while shooting despite the no doubt long hours. Also, since Kate is catching everyone on the tale end of shooting (filming began in April in Chicago), she said that keeping her distant from the cast actually helped her channel the icy character.

“I wanted to break it and say, ‘It’s OK, I’m really fun. I promise.’ But I thought, just for today, I’d let them think that I am a complete bitch.”

Apparently Divergent author Veronica Roth is also very happy with Kate’s performance as the Erudite leader, saying, “Kate has gone with a very subtle, even well-meaning villain. She’s not a mustache-twirling Disney type. She brings the menace in a very quiet way.”

We can’t wait! What do YOU think of Kate as Jeanine? Sound off in the comments!
