There’s still plenty of time before the final novel in Veronica Roth‘s Divergent trilogy debuts — come on, Allegiant! — and even more time until the movie adaptation of the first book premieres. But there’s only weeks until the author’s short stories, based on one of our favorite literary heroes, Four, begin to release. And now, here’s your first look at one of ‘em:
The first in Veronica Roth’s miniature tales about Four (a.k.a. Tobias Eaton), The Transfer, is tapped for release on September 3, but the cover is already out for your viewing pleasure. Hypable notes in its exclusive reveal of the artwork that it “follows in the footsteps of the Divergent trilogy designs with a circular shape behind the title. In the case of The Transfer, train cars create the circle. In four places within the circle, you’ll see train cars colliding.”
When Veronica originally spoke of her latest project, she said, “Four has never just been Tris’ love interest or a way for sexual tension to enter the story. He has always been a whole person with a history that affects him (and Tris) in significant ways, and a co-mover of the plot along with Tris. These stories are helping me to delve into his character in a way I never have before, and to build up parts of the world that Tris never experienced due to her limited perspective. Interestingly enough, they also affected the content of Allegiant, giving me more to draw from.”
