Step 1 in the transformation from Divergent's Tris Prior to The Fault in Our Stars' Hazel Grace Lancaster: the hair chop. That's exactly what Shailene Woodley underwent over the weekend for her next role.
Recently, it was announced that the 21-year-old Golden Globe-nominated actress would cut her signature long tresses for her upcoming part as the heroine in the John Green book-to-movie adaptation, which focuses on the life of terminally-ill cancer patient Hazel. Just days following the information's release, Shailene debuted her fresh look. Along with the picture, she writes, "work in progress… but luckily, #itgrowsback !!! :))"
And if you want to know how much was lopped off, the former Secret Life star also tweets, "hair nubbins #itgrowsback #hairforhazel," along with the following photo:
In case you weren't aware, the new 'do isn't just for The Fault in Our Stars. Shailene's making the most out of her transformation by donating the above ponytails to nonprofit Children with Hair Loss to create a wig for someone in need.
Since Shai herself refers to her fresh mane as a 'work in progress,' stay tuned for what's up next for Hazel. The Fault in Our Stars, co-starring Shailene's on-screen brother from Divergent, Ansel Elgort, is currently tapped to hit theaters sometime in 2015. What do you think of her work so far? Psst, we interviewed Shailene Woodley about her newly-released film, The Spectacular Now!
