Over the last few months, 17-year-old Lorde has exploded onto the music scene thanks to her catchy tune "Royals" (and her outspoken ways). While people might feel a certain way about her as a person, there's no denying she's a talented artist.
However, there are plenty of other singers on her tale who could take the coveted crown as the next Lorde. We rounded up seven up and coming indie singers who we think have what it takes to dethrone the "Royals" singer. Check them out below!
Are you a fan of Lorde? Sound off in the comments section!
1. Charli XCX
You probably know Charli XCX from her collab with Icona Pop for the SMASH single "I Love It" but she also makes her own music, too. She grew up listening to hip hop, so it's certainly something you can sense in her music.
2. Marina & the Diamonds
You might have already heard of Marina and the Diamonds, but we think it's just a matter of time before things get REALLY big for this singer. With tunes like "How to Be a Heartbreaker" and "Oh No" it's easy to see why she's been making her way up the charts.
3. Hollie Smith
Similar to Lorde, Hollie hails from New Zealand and is musically gifted. Her best known track is titled "Bathe in the River" and spent over 20 weeks in the top 10 in the top 10. We def get a bit of an Adele vibe from her too!
Aluna is another singer whose music is slowly becoming big, thanks to tunes like "Your Drums, Your Love."
This Swedish singer's main hit is a tune called "Down on Life." She has a pop sound, but is known for experimenting with everything from electronic to reggae.
Mo is a Danish singer who is known for her confidence, and hit song "Never Wanna Know."
7. Tove Lo
Tove Lo's big track right now --"Habits" -- might not be a little NSFW, but there's a good chance this song could hit big.
Lorde is outspoken, that's for sure…
