Well, this is a bit surprising. After dropping off the face of the earth living without making headlines pretty much since the release of “Take a Picture,” which failed to come remotely close to “Call Me Maybe”-viral status, Carly Rae Jepsen‘s taking the Internet by storm with her latest news — she’s headed to Cinderella on Broadway!

Playing the titular character of Cinderella, she will replace the show’s leading lady come February 4, 2014. Unsurprisingly, the world has plenty to say about the announcement:

Even the stars are joining in on the madness!

But at least Carly has the support of the woman she’s replacing, who really is a princess at heart. We’ll miss you, Laura Osnes!

What do you think of the news? Do you believe Carly will make for a good Cinderella? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below, people!

she can’t sing. not too sure on acting. but if her singing is this bad, she shouldn’t even be allowed to be having a lead role in broadway.

It was never a question about the singing. It’s about the ACTING.

I think we cannot judge her until we’ve seen her performance. The directors and producers wouldn’t of cast her if they thought she was going to sing incredibly badly.

That being said: all we have is time and once the wait is over I think it will be fair to judge her.

    If she’s good, she’s good.
    If she sucks, she sucks.

Honestly these people on twitter are pathetic and don’t say anything if you don’t have anything nice to say, oh yeah, and this whole thing about ‘oh she can’t sing’ is called idiocy.

Why is it idiocy? Because you like her? Please they want audiences that will come and they know that her “fans” will be there. Fans for what idk. She has good music but really she truly can’t sing. I’ve heard her live. She probably can’t act either. She’s another person that can’t even sing that we have to deal with.

Her as Cinderella is a complete joke. She can’t even sing. However hired her is a complete fool. Good luck with them selling tickets to that.
