12 Forgotten Boy Bands From the 1990s/2000s

by: on | in Music | 12 Comments

You wouldn’t know it based on today’s biggest examples, but a majority of boy bands used to sing AND dance. *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Dream Street — those are all names you should recognize for being some of the greatest male-driven musical acts from the ’90s/2000s.

Then there are those other boy bands; the ones you remember when you hear their names, but are not sure how, or whose songs you know but totally forgot who sang ‘em. And that’s who we’re here to give a shout-out to today because, even though they’ve been out of our lives for some time, they were great. Heck, maybe even better than One Direction! Oh yeah, we went there.

All-4-One (1993-”present”)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “I Swear”
Like we said, you may not have remembered who sang the track to begin with, but you sure as heck know it.

BBMak (1997–2003)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “Back Here”
Pure ’90s goodness.

Boyzone (1993–2000)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “Working My Way Back to You”
Anyone else’s parents still sing this on karaoke? Anyone? K, just us then.

LFO (1995–2002)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “Summer Girls”
Eff yeah, Summer ’99!

O-Town (2000-2003)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “All or Nothing”
THE ULTIMATE!

Yell 4 You (???)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You”
Pretty sure we’ve never even heard of Yell 4 You, but this song is CLASSIC.

Westlife (1998–2012 with a hiatus 2008-’09)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “Mandy”
You know you appreciated Westlife’s version over Barry Manilow’s…

No Mercy (1996-”present”)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “Where Do You Go?”
Yes, yes and yes.

Kulcha (???)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “Bring It On (New Jack Swing)”
We can just picture old school Will Smith dancing to this:

Color Me Badd (1990-1998)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “All 4 Love”
In 1991, it replaced Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” as #1 single. That’s huge!

Code Red (1996–2001)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “Can We Talk”
You guys can talk to us anytime.

911 (1995–2000)
MOST KNOWN FOR: “More Than a Woman”
We’re sure they did The Bee Gees proud.

In Taiwan, they had F4 in the early 2000′s, featuring the singers Vic Zhou, Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, and Ken Chu. Teenage girls all over Asia were crazy about that boy band, despite the language barrier.
