This month marked the end of the season for television favorites Pretty Little Liars and Teen Wolf. And, as usual on the teenage dramas, sparks flew on the final episodes. Both even incorporated some rather shocking deaths into their individual finales.
So, to talk more about the twists and turns on these particular shows, as well as others that made us reach for the tissue box or sent our hearts racing, we’ve rounded up 13 of the most surprising and/or emotional deaths of the fall 2013/spring 2014 television season. Make sure to add more in the comments below, people!
WARNING: MAJOR television series spoilers ahead. For real, do not go any further if you’re gonna huff and puff about spoiling the outcomes of your favorite TV shows.
Katherine Pierce, The Vampire Diaries
LAST EPISODE: "Gone Girl" (March 6, 2014)
Though we highly doubt that this is the last we'll see of Elena's doppelganger, we think being stabbed by a Traveller Knife will do a fair amount of damage for a while.

Allison, Teen Wolf
LAST EPISODE: "Insatiable" (March 17, 2014)
At least she got to be in the arms of her "first love" when she met her end.
Jessica DiLaurentis, Pretty Little Liars
LAST EPISODE: "'A' is For Answers" (March 18, 2014)
At least... we think she's dead. Last we saw, she was getting buried alive — just like she attempted to do with her daughter when the series first began. Dun dun dun.

Finn Hudson, Glee
LAST EPISODE: "All or Nothing" (May 9, 2013)
Although his last episode aired in May of last year, Cory Monteith's character was tapped to return for the dramedy's fifth season... But we all know the real-life tragedy that prevented that from happening. #RIPCory #RIPFinn
Brian Griffin, Family Guy
LAST EPISODE: "Life of Brian" November 24, 2013)
...until he came back to life not too long after. Oh, Seth MacFarlane, you tease.
Zoe Barnes, House of Cards
LAST EPISODE: "Chapter 14" (February 14, 2014)
The shocker of Season 2 happened early on when Kevin Spacey's character pushed Kate Mara's in front of a speeding train. Yikes.
Aaron Whitmore, The Vampire Diaries
LAST EPISODE: "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (February 6, 2014)
Poor guy was just collateral damage after Katherine (as Elena) broke Damon's heart. Maybe Bonnie can bring him back? Just maybe?

Hershel Greene, The Walking Dead
LAST EPISODE: "After" (February 9, 2014)
Pretty much everyone dies on TWD, but we've always had a soft spot for ol' Hershel. Unfortch, he met his demise after "The Governor" decapitated him. Yeesh.
Nadia Petrova, The Vampire Diaries
LAST EPISODE: "Rescue Me" (March 27, 2014)
Were we torn up about her demise? No, not really, but we did get a little emotional when Katherine finally told her how much she loved her while on her death bed.

Walter White, Breaking Bad
LAST EPISODE: "Felina" (September 29, 2013)
We all knew it was coming. How else could the show end, you know? Still, it tore us apart to know the journey was officially over.
Fiona Goode, American Horror Story: Coven
LAST EPISODE: "The Seven Wonders" (January 29, 2014)
Still get chills when remembering Jessica Lange's performance.
Will Gardner, The Good Wife
LAST EPISODE: "Dramatics, Your Honor" (March 23, 2014)
Normally we wouldn't really acknowledge the show as it's built for a more mature audience. However, the Internet went mad recently after the character was shockingly shot to death.
Aidan, Teen Wolf
LAST EPISODE: "The Divine Move" (March 24, 2014)
The audience barely had enough time to process Allison's death on the prior episode before one of the twins met his end by an Oni's sword.
