We all know Taylor Swift is a powerhouse in the music industry. She’s changing lives, creating chart-topping hits and performing headline-making concerts. There’s really no avoiding her. And Tay’s exes are the ones who have to sit back and watch as she shoots forward in the industry without them — or, in fact, with Calvin Harris on her arm.
However, in an industry that’s based all around image, there’s simply no time for any bitter attitudes. Because, basically, going up against Taylor is like started a world war the media just can NOT ignore (Seriously, look at how huge the Nicki Minaj “feud” ended up being).
So, here are all the wonderful quips of support spoken by the very focus of Taylor’s hit songs:
Harry Styles — During a One Direction Google Hangout, Harry couldn’t even avoid a question about Taylor from the producer of the band’s very own concert movie. The “What Makes You Beautiful” singer was asked directly about Tay’s latest album, 1989, and the fact that most of the songs are supposedly written directly about him. Harry responded in saying, “We write from personal experience, and I think everyone does, so it would be hypocritical of us to be like, ‘Oh you can’t write about us,’ And she’s really good, so they’re good songs. I’m really lucky in that sense.” That sounds like nothing but love to us! Plus, no one can deny how much the album has enriched all of our lives.
Joe Jonas — After double-dating with current girlfriend Gigi Hadid and Tayvin, Joe opened up about his relationship to Taylor nowadays in an interview with Access Hollywood. The former Jonas Brother said, “She’s great. We’re friends. I think in this industry, you meet a lot of people and you stay in touch. Obviously, it’s tough to be friends with people that are always constantly traveling, but yeah, we’re cool.” Looks like Tay’s got no bad blood with this ex!
Jake Gyllenhaal — While recently visiting Howard Stern at SiriusXM Radio, Howard decided to lecture Jake on how he should have married Taylor. Jake’s response? Nothing less than professional. He briefly hinted at a broken heart in saying, “Why didn’t you have me on this show sooner?” and spoke about how he hopes to get married one day. The Southpaw star’s only mention made that was directly about Taylor included avoiding any and all drama surrounding the possible songs she wrote about him, and simply saying, “She’s a beautiful girl.”
John Mayer — Despite the song “Dear John” and the fact that he’s close with Taylor’s “Bad Blood” inspiration, Katy Perry, it looks like John is ready to spread the love about Taylor and her career. In a recent interview with Ronan Farrow, John couldn’t wait to talk about Taylor and all the stuff she’s done for the music industry. “Artists need the person with the loudest voice to speak for them. I think [she’s doing that],” the “Gravity” singer said about his ex and her Spotify movement. He continued praising his ex in saying, “The only reason we’re talking about Taylor Swift taking Spotify on is because she’s Taylor Swift and that’s great.” We get it, John. The power of Tay.
